WordPress migration and backups. Zero downtime, nothing lost.
Hosting moves done the boring way: staged, tested, cut over in a quiet window with DNS, SSL and email coordinated. Your visitors never notice. Your inbox keeps working.
Problems I fix.
If two of these are you, I can probably have it sorted this week.
- Hosting is slow, expensive or unresponsive and you're afraid to move
- Last migration lost emails for two days
- WooCommerce store with orders coming in around the clock
- Managed host with custom caching nobody understands
- Backups exist but nobody has ever tested a restore
Everything included. Nothing padded.
Staged, then cut over
Full clone on the new host, tested end to end before DNS changes. Old server stays live until propagation completes.
DNS, SSL, CDN and email coordinated
MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC documented and replicated. Certificates in place before the switch.
WooCommerce-safe
Cutover in a low-sales window, incremental order sync, payment gateways verified afterwards.
Automated backups
Daily off-site backups with 30-day retention and a tested restore procedure.
Post-migration checks
Forms, checkout, email delivery, cron jobs, redirects, performance. All verified.
Rollback plan
If anything looks wrong, DNS goes back in minutes. The old site is untouched until you sign off.
From access to proof.
You hand over access. I hand back numbers. Snapshot before, rollback ready, no downtime.

Plan and stage
DNS, SSL and email documented. Site cloned to the new host and tested on a temporary URL.
- 02Cutover
Switch
DNS updated in a low-traffic window. Old site stays live until propagation finishes.
- 03After
Verify and monitor
Forms, checkout and email tested. 48 hours of monitoring, then the old server is retired.
A typical case: a WooCommerce store on slow shared hosting moves to a VPS. The site is cloned and tested on a temporary URL, email records are documented, and DNS switches late at night. Orders that arrive during the switch are synced to the new server, and every payment gateway is tested with a real order before the old host is retired.
This is for you if
- Switching hosts and can't afford downtime
- E-commerce store with active transactions
- Email delivery is mission-critical
Not a fit if
- You want a DIY cPanel copy (happy to advise instead)
- You want a redesign during the migration (separate that work first)
Things people ask before they book.
How do you ensure zero downtime?
Staging first, full tests, DNS cutover in your quietest window. Both environments monitored during propagation. Visible disruption is usually under a minute, often zero.
Email and DNS?
Yes. MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC are documented before and verified after. I coordinate with your registrar if nameservers change.
WooCommerce with live orders?
Cutover in a low-sales window, maintenance mode only for the brief final database sync, orders synced incrementally, gateways verified afterwards.
From WP Engine, Kinsta, Flywheel?
All of them. Each has quirks (MU plugins, caching configs) that get cleaned up and reconfigured for the new host.
What backups do you set up?
Daily automated off-site backups (S3 or similar) of files and database, 30-day retention, restore procedure tested.
Multisite?
Yes, with more care: shared tables and subdomain routing get mapped, each subsite tested. Quoted by network size.
What if it fails?
DNS reverts to the original server immediately. Pre-migration backups stay intact until you confirm the new site is stable.
How much does it cost?
Simple sites from €90, WooCommerce and membership sites €490–1,200, multisite from €1,500. Fixed quote up front.
